I am so excited to be joining EXP, a Brokerage that is leading the way into how Real Estate will be transacted in the future. I joined the Real Estate Profession in December of 1987 in Newmarket, Ontario, part of a huge area known as York Region, on the northern edge of the City of Toronto. This area was, and continues to be, a fast-growing hub for housing and Industry. My catalyst for becoming a Realtor was a less-than-good experience with a Realtor who was not working hard for me at that time. I felt I could do so much better. I fired that agent, obtained my license and vowed that I would ALWAYS listen to my clients needs, wants and dreams; I would put my client first; I would work hard and communicate regularly; I would dot my I’s and cross my T’s so their Real Estate experience would be fun, informative and stress free; I would follow up and monitor every aspect of the transaction all the way through to their moving day and most of all I would be promptly available for all their questions, concerns and jitters. In short, the kind of experience I had been seeking, and a promise to myself that I have since kept through my 33 years in Real Estate. I was still a newbie when the market took a drastic downturn. But, as they say, "whatever doesn't destroy you, makes you stronger". I was already in love with helping people find their special home, the ability to earn, commensurate to how hard I worked and with the flexible time for my two children, Tiffany and Brandyn. I have always felt that it is important to be involved and to give back, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Director initially, and then as President of the York Region Real Estate Board, up until its integration with the Toronto Board in the mid-2000’s. My personal life took some major hits in 2005 when I lost my son Brandyn during his double lung and heart transplant operation, and then less than a year later, in 2006, I suddenly lost my husband John to a brain aneurysm. If that was not enough, I inherited John’s crooked business partner, so I became my own Lawyer, and after 10 years of self-represented fraud litigation pursuing Justice, I finally won in 2018 and I have to say, I learned a huge amount about how the laws of our country work, and it strengthened my resolve to always be honest, ethical and thorough in all that I do. During that stressful period, I centred my focus only on my repeat and referral clients, so I could give them my undivided best service without ever spreading myself too thin. As the world has a habit of doing, its changing again and my timing couldn’t be better to service my clients by joining EXP as a leap into the online, paperless, virtual, cloud-based environment of the future.
